Reviews

This song was available as mp3 in 2004 at Besonic. It has received two features by Besonic scouts:

"An absurdly entertaining song about... Ants!! There is a touch of the great Frank Zappa here with all the elements of 70's progrock. Instrumentally too this is very authentic. Now where did I put those flares!" (Global Transmission, 21.06.2004)

"What if Gentle Giant met They Might be Giants? You might have an idea what J.O. Simon sounds like singing his loving tribute to ants. Yes, I said ants." (Phillip E. Hardy, 20.06.2004)

"Love it! I agree about the Zappa-esque vibe, melodically and lyrically!" (Bode)

"Very cool creative stuff!!!!" (wrightdude)

"Just listened to your ants track, very cool, made me smile, liked the lyrics and the style..." (Cling)

"Great Production J.O., the keyborad work is very cool and the blended guitar leads with synth leads were really excellent. Not to mention the silly fun of the song. A great listen!" (tarboy)

"I really find this tune: catchy. One doesn't want it to stop. I could picture Ringo Starr with George Harrison playing this tune, let alone Frank Zappa; very whimsical, but with relevant worldly meaning. Nice groove, then at 1:20 a tasteful guitar break swoops in & into a well worked out vibratone or xylophone & back into the nifty melodic phrasing, I can't get out of my head. Like I said: very catchy cool song. Like it. Monty Phython could use it. An original, indeed." (Vesa)

"Lovely Ant, - meter maid", - came to my mind by obvious assossiation with "Lovely Rita..." I gotta admit I liked this song much better than "Chicken's tortures", as this one have very clear rhythmic and melodic foundation. I like the seemingly effortles way in which you come up with original tunes. Also, the mixing of different influences is interesting in your music. Vocal is good. It's hard task to embedd dissonant things in otherwise very well constructed song, but you seem to be on the right track in tryin' to solve this eternal musical puzzle." (juri)

Ants Are The Meter Maids Of The Woods

Ants are everywhere
You say: "What do I care?"
You may be not aware
Of that, but ants are in your hair
'Cause:

Ants are everywhere - and

Ants are the meter maids
Ants are the meter maids
Ants are the meter maids of the woods

Ants are really bitchen
Ants are in the kitchen
Ants are on the loo
(They bite you when you pee)
Whatever you do
(Deliberately!)

Ants have a queen
But she can't be seen
She lives in the park
In a tiny hole in the dark
The poor little Queen!
