Your Father Told Me

Your Father Told Me

J.O. Simon in the 70s wearing the now famous "Flared Trousers"

Reviews

Well, this is a song about family stress... I hope, they'll sort out everything in the end. But nevertheless, this is one of the coolest Blues Rock song of an European artist I ever heard... If one would ask J.O. "Does Humor belong to music?", his answer definitely would be YES!

Yes, "Your Father Told Me" belongs to those "straight to the point" songs, I love so much, and full of surprises too - piano lines and the riffs have such a happy wilderness (guitars sound just a bit like Santana... corresponding so brilliant with the lovely marimabas). And lovely Sixties influences, cool beats, straight bass lines... J.O.'s vocals offer a sovereign quality with really international character - and the progressive break with Marimbas, and those cute "crying child" and toy samples complete the fun factor...

J. O. Simon is very busy these days with clever produced tracks like "Your Father Told Me". And he provides convincing, catchy music to us. He's the well-deserved "artist of the month" for IOM and one of the best German songwriters for so many months more...

Your Father Told Me

Your father told me that you’re crying
And that you‘re crawling on the floor
He said he had enough of this sighin‘
He said he can’t stand it no more

So I came here to talk with you

Refrain

I was caught in a trap
Get me out
Get me out
Get me out of this zoo

Bridge

I don’t regret anything it’s okay
You wanted all the dogs
and the cats and the children
You bought all that stuff and the birds

Solo

Refrain

You wanted to go back to your ma and pa
You went away, you took our car
I never thought that you would go that far
To leave me alone with all that trash
